CHICKEN BIRYANI RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
- 3 cups Basmati rice, uncooked
- 1 lb Chicken thighs or breast, cut into bite size pieces
- 2 chopped green Chilis
- 2 tsp kala Zeera
- 1 tsp ginger Garlic paste
- ¼ cup Biryani masala
- ½ cup Mint, chopped
- ½ cup Cilantro, chopped
- 1 cup fried Onions
- ¼ cup Yogurt
- 2 tbsp Oil for cooking
- Water
- INSTRUCTIONS
- Add 3 scoops of rice to your rice cooker. Add the kala zeera. Add the correct amount of water according to your rice cooker instructions. For example, if I add 3 scoops of rice, I will add water up to the 3rd level. Soak for 40 minutes.
- When the rice is almost half way soaking, heat the oil in a pan.
- Brown the chicken on both sides.
- Add the biryani masala, fried onions, chilis, and ginger garlic paste. Stir.
- Add the mint and cilantro, along with the yogurt. Stir. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Remove most of the water from the rice cooker.
- Add the chicken mixture to the rice. Stir gently.
- Secure lid, and press the rice button.
- Once it's done, let it sit for ten minutes before removing the lid.
- Serve with raita!
