CHICKEN BIRYANI RECIPE

INGREDIENTS
  • 3 cups Basmati rice, uncooked
  • 1 lb Chicken thighs or breast, cut into bite size pieces
  • 2 chopped green Chilis
  • 2 tsp kala Zeera
  • 1 tsp ginger Garlic paste
  • ¼  cup Biryani masala
  • ½ cup Mint, chopped
  • ½ cup Cilantro, chopped
  • 1 cup fried Onions
  • ¼ cup Yogurt
  • 2 tbsp Oil for cooking
  • Water
  • INSTRUCTIONS
    1. Add 3 scoops of rice to your rice cooker. Add the kala zeera. Add the correct amount of water according to your rice cooker instructions. For example, if I add 3 scoops of rice, I will add water up to the 3rd level. Soak for 40 minutes.
    2. When the rice is almost half way soaking, heat the oil in a pan.
    3. Brown the chicken on both sides.
    4. Add the biryani masala, fried onions, chilis, and ginger garlic paste. Stir.
    5. Add the mint and cilantro, along with the yogurt. Stir. Simmer for 10 minutes.
    6. Remove most of the water from the rice cooker.
    7. Add the chicken mixture to the rice. Stir gently.
    8. Secure lid, and press the rice button.
    9. Once it's done, let it sit for ten minutes before removing the lid.
    10. Serve with raita!
